How convenient! Someone was nice enough to list most of the reasons I will never vote for John McCain on one tidy web page. Who was kind enough to do so? Why, John McCain of course.

Good idea, asshole. You just keep on keepin' on eroding women's rights. Nothing bad ever came of upholding the rights of the unborn!

This bit's sandwiched into a bunch of shit about not "legislating from the bench" and that the federal government has no place telling states that they can't vote to disallow same-sex marriages. Oh, wait, that's the way it is right now.

McCain haet stem cell research. There's some bullshit in there about alternatives, and it specifies he's against "fetal farming," but we all know he wants to ban it and anything similar to it wholesale.

More "for da chilllldrun" legislation. Because Net Nanny works so damn well as it is, right? And hey, while we're at it, let's make sure anyone involved when the software fails sees the inside of a jail cell for the government's ineptitude! This can't possibly fail!

"John McCain has taken a hard line against pedophiles that would use the Internet to prey upon children by proposing the first-of-its-kind national online registry for persons who have been convicted of sex crimes against children. Senator McCain's legislation requires that sex offenders register all online accounts in a national database that can be used by law enforcement to investigate crimes against children. If these predators fail to register they would be sent to prison for ten years. The legislation also makes use of the Internet an "aggravating factor" in sex crimes against children, adding an additional ten years to any conviction. It is the responsibility of government to do all that can be done to protect children from predators who lurk on the Internet."

Another brilliant idea from the think tank! Let's take the already overzealous, ill-defined, emotionally-overwrought and poorly enforced law and slap an instant ten-year super happy fun time bonus onto it if it happens to involve the Internet somehow! So when, for example, a 17-year-old becomes a convicted sex offender for receiving consensual oral sex from a 15-year-old, we'll up his prison term to 20 years instead of 10 if he so much as texts or IMs her! This can't possibly go awry!

Thank you, John McCain, for so clearly outlining the reasons that I will never vote for you and think you are the worst possible choice for leadership of our country.

Edity: Oh, and as for Barack, taking a handful of his positions from his site:

- Supports a woman's right to choose
- "Obama will work to give parents the tools to prevent reception of programming that they find offensive on television and on digital media." That's parents, not substitute teachers. It also mentions Common Sense Media by name, which is a pretty awesome site and I encourage anyone that read this far to check it out if you haven't.
- Supports gay rights
- Supports stem cell research

Well look at that, he has stances on the issues that are in line with my own and don't seem to be based solely on a hardline Christian viewpoint of the world! Gee, I wonder who should get my vote?
